Japanese Bonsai - Shimpaku Juniper with Deadwood and Living Vein | VRChat World Prop

A Japanese-style bonsai 3D prop for VRChat worlds and homes.

This one is a shimpaku juniper, and the whole piece turns on a single contrast. A band of

bleached deadwood - shari - runs the length of the trunk, and arcing up over it, still

alive, is a red-brown vein of living bark. Dead wood and living wood, side by side on the

same trunk. That is what juniper bonsai is prized for, and it is the reason this one is

named "Tancho" - after the crimson crown of the Japanese crane.

The foliage sits in layered pads beneath the arc, so the deadwood reads clearly from the

front and from three-quarters.
